Content Moderator (Italian Speaking)
About the role
Harbour Content Moderation Ltd is a Malta-based trust & safety provider supporting international social platforms and digital brands. We operate a compact, multilingual moderation team from our Sliema/Gżira office with hybrid working options and a focus on paced, policy-driven work.
The Content Moderator (Italian Speaking) will review text, images and video across multiple platforms, applying company policy and local legal/contextual understanding to remove or escalate content. You will work closely with teammates, quality assurance and escalation managers to ensure consistent decisions against KPIs and SLAs.
This role suits someone detail-oriented, comfortable working to clear procedures and who can communicate in Italian and English. The position offers shift work with a combination of office days and remote days, formal training on trust & safety standards and the opportunity to progress into senior moderation or team-lead roles within a growing Maltese operations hub.

Key responsibilities
- Review user-generated content (text, images, video) for policy compliance in Italian and English.
- Apply internal moderation guidelines and classification tags accurately and consistently.
- Log cases, maintain accurate records and follow escalation procedures for complex/sensitive content.
- Meet daily quality and productivity KPIs while maintaining decision accuracy.
- Work with quality assurance to receive feedback and improve decision-making.
- Coordinate with escalation teams and legal/compliance where required.
- Provide contextual notes to support appeals and follow-up investigations.
- Contribute to localised policy improvements and cultural context guidance for the Italian market.
Requirements
- Fluent Italian (native or near-native) and strong written English.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in content moderation, trust & safety, customer support or similar digital roles.
- Comfortable working shifts including evenings, weekends and occasional public holidays.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to apply rules consistently under time pressure.
- Basic ICT skills (MS Office, web interfaces) and ability to learn content management systems quickly.
- Understanding of online harms, community guidelines or platform policy principles.
- Right to work in Malta (EU nationals or valid Maltese employment permissions preferred).

Work schedule
Typical week: 5 days per week on a rolling roster; shifts include evenings, weekends and public holidays on rotation.
