Content Writer - Sports Betting

About the role

Shoreline Gaming Content Ltd is a Malta-based content agency specialising in iGaming and sports betting media. We work with international operators and affiliates from our St Julian's hub, producing high-volume editorial, SEO content and live coverage for a variety of sports markets. The team is collaborative, deadline-driven and experienced in fast-turnaround publishing.

The Content Writer will produce pre-match previews, betting guides, market analysis, odds commentary and evergreen SEO content across football, tennis, basketball and niche sports. You will work closely with SEO, product and design teams to optimise pieces for acquisition and retention, and contribute to the editorial calendar and live content rota during major sporting events.

This is a hybrid role based in St Julian's with flexible remote days, but regular in-office collaboration is expected, especially during major live events where on-site coordination with editorial and production teams is required. The position offers training on industry tools, clear progression to senior editorial roles and exposure to international iGaming clients.

Key responsibilities

• Write clear, engaging and SEO-optimised sports betting content: previews, guides, tips, market explainers and evergreen pieces.
• Produce live event coverage and odds commentary during major matches and tournaments.
• Work with SEO specialists to research keywords, structure articles and implement on-page optimisation.
• Maintain an editorial calendar and deliver content to tight deadlines, often coordinating multiple live pieces.
• Fact-check statistics, odds and sources; ensure accuracy and timeliness of all published content.
• Manage content in CMS platforms, upload assets, format articles and apply metadata correctly.
• Collaborate with product, design and affiliate teams to align content with business goals and promotional calendars.
• Monitor content performance using analytics and iterate on copy to improve engagement and conversion metrics.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of professional writing experience, ideally with exposure to sports or betting content.
• Strong command of written English; ability to produce clear, concise copy for a global audience.
• Good understanding of sports betting markets, terminology and common bet types (odds formats, handicaps, markets).
• Practical experience with CMS (WordPress, Contentful or similar) and basic HTML formatting.
• Familiarity with SEO best practices and keyword research tools (e.g. Ahrefs, SEMrush) or willingness to upskill quickly.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle live coverage during evenings and weekends when required.
• Eligible to work in Malta or able to provide relevant work authorisation documentation.
