Senior .NET Core Developer

About the role

Sliema Tech Labs is a growing software engineering firm serving fintech, iGaming and SaaS clients from their central Sliema office. The company values pragmatic engineering, code quality and long-term partnerships with international customers.

The Senior .NET Core Developer will be responsible for designing and implementing backend services, improving system reliability, and working closely with product owners and frontend teams. You will join a multi-disciplinary team using Agile practices, contribute to architectural decisions and help shape development standards and CI/CD pipelines.

This is a senior hands-on position with opportunities for technical leadership, mentoring junior developers and influencing the technology roadmap. The role offers a hybrid working pattern, training budget and exposure to cloud-native deployments and modern DevOps practices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services using .NET Core (C#) and related technologies
• Build and consume RESTful APIs and microservices, ensuring performance and scalability
• Participate in architecture and design discussions, proposing improvements and best practices
• Write unit and integration tests; maintain high code coverage and strong testing discipline
• Lead code reviews and mentor mid/junior developers to raise team standards
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, QA and product owners to deliver features on time
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and support deployments to cloud environments (Azure or AWS)
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis and implement fixes

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years professional software development experience with C# and .NET Core
• Proven experience building web APIs, microservices and working with relational databases (SQL Server / Azure SQL / PostgreSQL)
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented design, SOLID principles and modern development practices
• Experience with source control (Git), CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar) and automated testing
• Familiarity with Docker containers and basic container orchestration concepts
• Excellent communication skills in English (technical discussions and documentation)
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience preferred
• Must be eligible to work in Malta (EU citizens or candidates with valid Maltese work status)
