About the role

Valletta Digital Group is a Malta-based digital services and technology provider working with international iGaming, fintech and ecommerce clients. We operate a data-driven CRM practice that combines marketing automation, customer data platforms and cross-channel orchestration to drive retention and lifetime value.

The Head of CRM & Automation will lead a small cross-functional team of CRM specialists, email marketers and automation engineers. You will be responsible for defining CRM strategy, building scalable automation frameworks, owning campaign performance and integrating customer data across systems. This role requires a strategic thinker who can also get hands-on with platform configuration and data flows.

This is a hybrid leadership role with regular on-site days in Sliema. It offers the chance to shape a growing CRM capability, work with international brands, influence product and commercial strategy, and build a high-performing team. Key responsibilities

  • Define and own the CRM strategy and automation roadmap across customer lifecycles (onboarding, retention, reactivation, VIP programmes).
  • Lead, coach and grow a team of CRM specialists, email marketers and automation engineers; hire as required.
  • Design and implement multi-channel automation workflows using best-practice segmentation and orchestration.
  • Manage CRM platform architecture, integrations with CDPs, data warehouses and transactional systems via APIs.
  • Set KPIs, run A/B tests, analyse results and iterate to improve engagement, ARPU and retention metrics.
  • Collaborate with product, compliance and data teams to ensure GDPR-compliant data usage and tracking.
  • Oversee campaign planning, creative briefs and delivery schedules while ensuring high deliverability and quality.
  • Work with analytics stakeholders to build reporting dashboards (revenue attribution, cohort analysis, LTV).
  • Manage vendor relationships for CRM, CDP and automation tools and drive platform procurement decisions.
  • Prepare presentations for senior stakeholders summarising program performance, risks and growth opportunities.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6–8 years' experience in CRM, marketing automation or lifecycle marketing, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience with CRM/marketing automation platforms such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Braze, HubSpot or similar.
  • Strong technical understanding of APIs, CDPs (e.g. Segment, mParticle), SQL and data integration patterns.
  • Track record of building and optimising customer journeys with measurable lift in retention and revenue.
  • Experience managing teams and external suppliers; strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Good knowledge of email deliverability, data segmentation and campaign testing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with GDPR and data privacy requirements relevant to CRM activities.
  • Fluent English; Maltese language skills are advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Eligible to work in Malta (EU nationals or holders of appropriate work permits).

Work schedule

Typical week: Monday to Friday, hybrid with 2–3 days per week on-site in Sliema and flexible remote days.

  • Standard office hours: 09:00–17:30 (flexible start between 08:00–10:00)
  • Occasional evening or weekend availability for campaign launches or incident response
  • Remote-working days as agreed with the leadership team
