Junior Accountant (iGaming)
About the role
Harbour Point Finance Ltd is a Malta-based shared-services provider specialising in finance and accounting for iGaming and fintech clients. Our team combines local regulatory know-how with international best practice to support growing brands based in St Julian’s, Sliema and across Europe. We are a compact, collaborative finance function that values accuracy, timeliness and continuous learning.
The Junior Accountant will work alongside senior accountants and reporting teams to process daily transactions, perform reconciliations (payments, wallets, bank), and assist with month-end close activities. You will gain exposure to payment providers, gaming platform settlements and client-specific accounting workflows. Training and mentorship are provided to help you build accounting skills and progress within the company.

Key responsibilities
- Post and reconcile daily banking transactions, player wallet movements and payment-provider settlements.
- Process supplier invoices and expense claims, ensuring correct coding and approval workflows.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations (bank, suspense accounts, intercompany) and prepare supporting schedules for month-end close.
- Assist with VAT and other indirect tax reconciliations and the preparation of periodic submissions to seniors.
- Support payroll data preparation and liaise with payroll providers where required.
- Maintain the general ledger, post journal entries and assist with clearing aged items.
- Work with payments and operations teams to investigate discrepancies and escalate unresolved issues.
- Contribute to audit preparation and provide documentation to internal/external auditors as requested.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent OR AAT / ACCA part-qualified candidates.
- 0–2 years’ practical accounting experience; internships or finance admin experience accepted.
- Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, pivot tables) and good numeracy.
- Familiarity with accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar.
- Excellent written and spoken English; Maltese language skills are an advantage.
- Right to work in Malta (EU citizens or valid work permit holders).
- High attention to detail, ability to work to deadlines and maintain confidentiality.
- Comfortable working in a hybrid model and flexible to occasional extended hours at month-end.

Work schedule
Typical week: Monday to Friday, standard office hours with hybrid flexibility; occasional extended hours during month-end close.
