About the role
Sliema Creative Labs Ltd is an independent creative studio based on the Sliema/Gżira seafront, working with brands across eCommerce, iGaming and local hospitality clients. We combine fast-paced production sprints with strategic creativity to deliver performance-driven video campaigns for social and display advertising.
The Motion Designer will join a compact production team, collaborating closely with art directors, video editors and account managers. You will be responsible for concepting, animating and delivering ready-to-publish ad formats (stories, square, vertical, display banners) while ensuring brand consistency and technical compliance across platforms. This is a hybrid role with 2–3 days in the Sliema office to support hands-on reviews and team workshops.
This position is ideal for a motion designer who enjoys working to tight campaign timelines, has a strong portfolio of short-form social/video ads, and wants exposure to international briefs and performance marketing metrics. Key responsibilities
- Concept, design and animate short-form video ads for social platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok) and programmatic display.
- Produce end-to-end video assets: storyboards, animatics, motion graphics, and final renders optimised for platform requirements.
- Collaborate with art directors, copywriters and media buyers to align creative with campaign objectives and KPIs.
- Prepare multiple aspect ratios and variations (16:9, 1:1, 9:16) and manage asset versioning for A/B testing.
- Ensure technical compliance with ad specs (file size, codecs, duration, frame rate) and submit final assets to ad platforms.
- Maintain organised project folders, source files and production documentation for handoffs and archives.
- Participate in creative reviews, provide constructive feedback to peers and support junior designers where required.
- Monitor campaign performance insights and iterate creatives based on engagement and conversion data.
Requirements
- 2+ years professional experience in motion design or video production, with demonstrable work on social/video ads.
- Strong portfolio (required) showing motion graphics, short-form ads and storytelling for digital platforms.
- Proficiency in After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro; solid knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Understanding of video codecs, export settings, frame rates and platform-specific ad specifications.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines, manage multiple campaigns and deliver high-quality assets consistently.
- Fluent English (working language); good communication skills for client-facing interactions.
- Right to work in Malta (EU/EEA passport or valid Maltese work permit) — candidates must be able to legally work in Malta.

Work schedule
Typical week: Monday to Friday with core office presence 2–3 days per week; occasional evening or weekend work during key campaign launches.

- Core hours for hybrid days: 10:00–16:00
- Occasional extended hours for campaign launches or client reviews
