The Network Administrator will join a small technical team responsible for day-to-day network operations, infrastructure upgrades and security hardening. You will work on Cisco switching and routing platforms, firewalls, network monitoring and will coordinate with vendors and cloud teams for hybrid deployments. The role suits a pragmatic engineer who can troubleshoot under pressure and document solutions clearly.

This position offers exposure to multi-tenant client environments and the chance to build skills in cloud networking (Azure/AWS), VOIP and automation. We offer structured training support, a collaborative team environment and hybrid working that balances on-site hardware work with remote configuration and monitoring tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Cisco switching and routing infrastructure (configuration, upgrades, patching).
• Manage and monitor firewalls, VPNs and perimeter security; implement rules and policies.
• Troubleshoot network incidents and outages; perform root-cause analysis and document resolutions.
• Configure and support VLANs, routing protocols (OSPF/BGP basics) and QoS for multi-tenant environments.
• Work with cloud teams to integrate on-prem networks with Azure/AWS VPCs and hybrid connectivity.
• Maintain network monitoring, logging and alerting systems (e.g. PRTG, SolarWinds, Elastic).
• Coordinate hardware procurement, vendor support and on-site maintenance activities.
• Create and maintain network documentation, diagrams and runbooks.
• Participate in change control and deployment windows, including scheduled maintenance.
• Support VOIP/UC network requirements and liaise with telephony providers as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum 2–4 years’ practical experience in network administration or similar role.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco switches and routers; familiarity with IOS and common commands.
• Experience managing firewalls (Fortinet, Palo Alto or similar) and VPN technologies.
• Good working knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, subnetting and basic routing protocols.
• Experience with network monitoring tools and log review for incident detection.
• Comfortable working with Windows Server and Linux basics for network services.
• Strong English communication skills; Maltese language skills are an advantage.
• Right to work in Malta or valid work permit at time of application.
• Flexibility for occasional after-hours maintenance and on-call rota participation.
