The company combines local Maltese teams with distributed engineering and trading partners and operates from a modern St Julian’s office close to Portomaso.

The Product Owner - Sportsbook will be responsible for defining and executing the sportsbook product roadmap, working closely with trading, UX, backend engineering and commercial stakeholders. You will translate market and trading requirements into detailed backlog items, prioritise delivery, and ensure smooth supplier and API integrations with third-party data and odds providers.

Key responsibilities

  • Define, maintain and communicate the sportsbook product roadmap aligned to business goals and trading priorities
  • Write clear user stories, acceptance criteria and prioritise the product backlog for engineering sprints
  • Work closely with trading teams to translate market needs, odds models and risk rules into product requirements
  • Manage integrations with third-party suppliers (odds feeds, live data, KYC/payments APIs) and ensure SLAs are met
  • Monitor product performance using analytics (revenue, margins, hold, conversion) and propose optimisation actions
  • Coordinate cross-functional delivery across engineering, QA, operations and commercial teams
  • Support release planning, validate features in staging and production, and manage rollouts for major sports events
  • Act as the primary stakeholder for sportsbook feature demos, documentation and training for internal teams
  • Identify regulatory or compliance impacts on product features and work with legal/compliance to mitigate risk

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager with direct exposure to sportsbook products or sports trading
  • Proven track record in backlog management, Agile ceremonies and delivering product increments with engineering teams
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with product analytics tools (SQL, Looker/Power BI or similar)
  • Familiarity with sportsbook concepts: odds formats, markets, in-play betting, trading limits and risk controls
  • Experience integrating with third-party feeds and APIs; ability to read API documentation and manage vendor relationships
  • Excellent stakeholder communication skills and experience working with trading and commercial teams
  • Fluent English (written and spoken); Maltese is a plus but not required
  • Right to work in Malta or ability to obtain work permission (candidates should be able to legally work in Malta)

Work schedule

Typical week: Monday to Friday core hours with flexible remote days; occasional availability required during major sports events or releases.

  • Standard office hours: 09:00–17:30
  • Hybrid model: typically 2–3 days in office, 2–3 days remote
  • On-call availability during peak sports events (rotational, pre-agreed)
