Merlion Hospitality Tech

About the role

Merlion Hospitality Tech is the digital arm of a fast-growing F&B and hospitality group in Singapore. We build and operate POS, online ordering, reservation and loyalty platforms used across our restaurants, cafes and central kitchen operations. Our stack centres on Laravel for backend services, Vue/React for admin interfaces, MySQL and hosted infrastructure on AWS.

This Senior PHP Developer will take ownership of core APIs, lead backend architecture improvements, and work closely with product managers, operations teams and in-house outlets to deliver reliable features that address real hospitality workflows — from cashier flows and kitchen display integrations to promotions and cross-outlet reporting. You'll be expected to maintain high code quality, mentor junior developers, and be part of an on-call rotation for production incidents.

The role is hybrid (office in the CBD) with regular collaboration sessions and occasional site visits to our restaurants and central kitchen. It's an attractive opportunity for someone who wants to shape products used daily by FOH and BOH teams and grow into a technical lead within a hospitality-focused tech team.

About Merlion Hospitality Tech

  • Write and maintain database schemas, migrations and optimized queries for MySQL.
  • Implement automated tests, CI/CD pipelines and participate in release processes.
  • Perform code reviews, mentor junior developers and improve engineering standards.
  • Investigate and resolve production incidents; participate in on-call rotation.
  • Collaborate with product, operations and FOH/BOH teams to translate hospitality needs into robust solutions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years professional PHP development experience with 3+ years using Laravel in production.
  • Strong experience building and consuming REST APIs and service integrations.
  • Solid skills with relational databases (MySQL), query optimization and schema design.
  • Familiarity with version control (Git), automated testing (PHPUnit) and CI/CD tools.
  • Experience deploying and operating applications on AWS (EC2, RDS, S3) or similar cloud hosts.
  • Good understanding of authentication/authorization, web security best practices and PCI considerations.
  • Able to communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders and participate in cross-functional teams.
  • Flexible to support occasional on-site work, restaurant visits and out-of-hours deployments/incidents.

Benefits

  • Competitive monthly salary and annual performance bonus.
  • Hybrid work arrangement with a modern office in the CBD.

Typical week: 5 days per week (Monday–Friday) with occasional weekend or public-holiday support on rotation.

  • Core hours with hybrid schedule — typical office hours 10:00–18:00 (flexible start).
