Senior React Native Developer (Mobile)

About the role

Sliema Tech Labs Ltd is a growing Maltese mobile and web development house delivering consumer-facing and B2B apps for clients across fintech, iGaming and tourism. We combine a compact local team with remote specialists and deliver end-to-end mobile products for iOS and Android.

The Senior React Native Developer will be a technical lead on mobile projects: architecting solutions, integrating native modules, improving performance and owning the release process to the App Store and Play Store. You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers and backend engineers based in Malta and abroad, and mentor mid-level and junior developers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead development of cross-platform mobile apps using React Native and TypeScript.
• Design and implement scalable app architecture and native module integrations (iOS/Android).
• Own the full mobile release cycle: build pipelines, code signing, TestFlight, Play Console, and production releases.
• Collaborate with product designers and backend engineers to deliver performant features on schedule.
• Write and maintain unit, integration and end-to-end tests; improve CI/CD and release automation.
• Perform code reviews, set coding standards and mentor junior and mid-level developers.
• Investigate and resolve performance, memory and crash issues using profiling tools and analytics.
• Document architecture decisions, onboarding guides and technical runbooks for the mobile team.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years professional mobile development experience, with at least 3 years in React Native.
• Strong proficiency with TypeScript, modern React paradigms (hooks, context) and state management.
• Practical knowledge of native iOS and Android concepts (bridging, lifecycle, permissions, async tasks).
• Experience publishing and managing apps in App Store Connect and Google Play Console.
• Familiarity with testing frameworks (Jest, Detox or similar) and mobile CI/CD tools.
• Solid Git workflows and experience with code review processes.
• Good communication skills in English; ability to work with cross-functional teams.
• Right to live and work in Malta (EU citizens preferred; mention of required documentation during interview).
