About the role
Sliema Localization Labs Ltd is a Maltese specialist supplier of localisation and translation services for tech, iGaming and digital media clients across Europe. We combine linguistic expertise with engineering workflows to deliver continuous localisation for multilingual product teams.
The Localization Specialist (Turkish) will work within our language team to translate and adapt UI copy, marketing materials and support resources for Turkish audiences. You'll use CAT tools and localisation platforms, run linguistic QA, liaise with developers and product owners to ensure context-accurate localisation and perform in-context testing on web and mobile builds.
This role sits in a small, collaborative team that balances structured processes with fast-paced delivery. You'll benefit from regular training, exposure to international clients and the chance to shape glossaries and workflows. The position is offered on a hybrid basis with regular days in our Sliema office and remote flexibility for focused work.
The role is well-suited to linguists who enjoy technical localisation challenges and want steady progression into localisation engineering, project management or specialist QA roles within Malta's growing language-technology sector.

Key responsibilities
- Translate and adapt user interface strings, marketing copy and support materials from English to Turkish ensuring natural tone and cultural appropriateness.
- Maintain and update translation memories, termbases and glossaries specific to client brands.
- Perform linguistic quality assurance (LQA) and in-context verification on web and mobile builds, reporting and tracking issues.
- Work with localisation engineers and developers to resolve context, encoding and segmentation issues.
- Implement and review translations in localisation platforms (e.g. Lokalise, Crowdin) and CAT tools (e.g. SDL Trados, memoQ).
- Liaise with client product owners and QA teams to clarify terminology and desired tone.
- Handle ad-hoc translation requests and ensure timely turnaround during release cycles.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of localisation workflows and best practices.
Requirements
- Native-level Turkish with excellent written English (professional working proficiency).
- Minimum 2 years' experience in translation/localisation, preferably for digital products or web/mobile apps.
- Practical experience with CAT tools and localisation platforms (Lokalise, Crowdin, Trados, memoQ or similar).
- Familiarity with file formats used in localisation (JSON, XML, .po/.pot) and basic technical awareness of encoding and placeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, consistency and terminology management skills.
- Experience performing in-context QA and basic functional checks on web or mobile interfaces.
- Ability to work hybrid from our Sliema office and attend occasional client calls outside standard hours.
- Eligibility to work in Malta (EU citizens or holders of a valid Maltese work permit).

Work schedule
Typical week: Monday to Friday standard office hours with hybrid remote options; occasional early/late calls with international clients.
